Overview

Combine a basic lesson in Hungarian with an insightful tour to some major Budapest monuments with a light hearted 3-hour class and tour that provides an easy introduction to the Magyars’ playfully poetic language along with helpful pointers about navigating around Budapest.

During an initial introductory session held amid informal settings, personalized classes teach the basics of Hungarian, such as survival phrases and polite ways to interact with locals; visitors are then provided with customized orientation sessions and specific recommendations for visiting Budapest before taking a guided walk along historic Andrássy Avenue to Heroes’ Square. During the class participants can ask questions about Hungarian life and culture.

Great / Central Synagogue (Nagy Zsinagoga)
Meeting at front of the well-known landmark of Budapest and starting the class just across the Great Synagogue, at our partners Café.
The Dohány Street Synagogue, also known as the Great Synagogue is a historical building in Erzsébetváros, the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. It is the largest synagogue in Europe, seating 3,000 people and is a centre of Neolog Judaism.

Kalvin Square
Kálvin tér is a major square and intersection in the city center of Budapest. It was named after the French Protestant Reformer John Calvin, due to the large Reformed Church located there. Being a major thoroughfare and locality, the square is a major transport hub with tram, bus, and trolleybus routes serving the square. The Hungarian National Museum is near Kálvin tér.

Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid)
The Liberty Bridge connects Buda and Pest across the River Danube. It is the third southernmost public road bridge in Budapest, located at the southern end of the City Centre. It was originally named Franz Joseph Bridge.

Fovam Square
The square opposite of the Central Market Hall, at the end of Budapest's busiest shopping street (Váci utca) is named after the tax the merchant payed here. Fővám tér is also a station of Line 4 of the Budapest Metro, located beneath the eponymous square. The tunnels, on the other side of Szabadság Bridge, go under the Danube and continue in Pest under Corvinus University.
