What To Expect

Central Market Hall
Dive into authentic atmosphere and explore main street food sites in Budapest. As this is a private tour, ask your tricky questions and get tips about best landmarks or finest restaurants. Guide will be happy to share his/her knowledge and show Budapest’s hidden gems. Do not worry about hidden costs, as all treats are included. If you are looking for local delicacies and want to be surprised – you have found it all on this tour.

First you will head to Central Market Hall. There is a huge variety of produce, including typically Hungarian: fresh vegetables and fruit, sausages, meat, spices, pastries, bread, cheese. The upper floor has some restaurants. Here you will try delicious Hungarian sausage, some veggies and a national dish. It will be difficult for you to choose, as sausages may be boiled, fresh, dried, smoked, with different spices and flavors. The most famous sausages have their own name, and your guide will share this information with you.

Jewish Quarter
You will head to your next stop and pass by the Jewish Quarter. This small neighborhood is a good place to explore lovely narrow streets, restaurants, cafes and markets. Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park
Then you will pass by Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park, which is located not far from the synagogue. At least 400,000 Hungarian Jews were murdered by the Nazis in Budapest. Observe the weeping willow sculpture, which is mind-boggling and extremely emotional. This wonderful work of art is a very poignant reminder.

Small Boulevard
Our next stop is the Small Boulevard. Actually, it is a colloquial name for three parts that are connected to each other. On both sides of the boulevard you will find multiple antique shops, especially rich in old books and artwork. Beyond it you will see the majestic Neo-Classical building of the Hungarian National Museum, which houses an outstanding collection of Hungarian history, arts, politics and folklore. Soak up the views!

Now it’s time for national dish Langos. If you try Langos once it will be very difficult to stop. It is made with soft dough that is usually shaped into rounds and fried until golden. Try it with garlic sauce, sour cream, cheese, or ask to mix all ingredients together. Langos is sometimes called Hungarian pizza. It is a popular all year long.

Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid)
Then you will head to the Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid) to enjoy a coffee or lemonade in the coolest place in town. A chimney cake is also waiting for you. You will see how it is cooked, and then enjoy soft sweet delight. The first written record about chimney cake dates back to 1679, and the first recipe appears in a manuscript cookbook dated 1781. It is cylindrical shape bakery, usually baked over an open fire. It is coated with sugar and sometimes with vanilla or cinnamon. Chimney cake has a perfect crisp exterior and is soft inside, so try the most delicious dessert ever.
